James Hammond ATA Delegate
James Hammond
ATA Delegate

In 1995 I started shooting at Inyokern Trap Club and joined the ATA/CGSTA.  Being a hunter and an outdoorsman I fell in love with the sport.  In 2000, I met my beautiful wife, Candy, and relocated to Southern California where we have been able to enjoy shooting year round.

For many years I have traveled to other states for major shoots including: Spring and Autumn Grand, California, Arizona and Wyoming State Shoots, Las Vegas Fall and Spring Shoots, the South Western Grand, Vernal Utah Fall and Summer Shoot, Western Grand, and the Grand American.

I would like to thank everyone that supported me and encouraged me to run for the California Delegate position.  I will do everything I can to represent each and every California Shooter.  Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or ideas to better our State Members and the ATA as a whole.

My wife Linda and I joined the ATA/CGSTA and attended our first California State Shoot in 1998. We also fell in love with trap shooting and have made many friends in the past twelve years.

I became involved with the Kern County Gun Club in late 1998 and was on the Board of Directors for eleven years.

I became a CGSTA Director in 2001 and I am currently the CGSTA President.

I started shooting in 1972 at the age of 13 with the encouragement of my father.  Much like trap shooting, I am an avid hunter and have traveled all over the United States to do what I love.

In these past years I have shot over 150 thousand ATA targets.  I enjoy going to new clubs, meeting new people and visiting with friends I have met along the way.  This past year I became a member of the All American Team for the first time.  I firmly believe that you get what you put into this sport.  The future of trap shooting is in our hands and it is up to all of us to promote the sport to our up coming youth.

I have been a member of the CGSTA board of directors for the past three years and I believe with my 38 years of shooting experience and being involved in other aspects of the sport, I can, with assurance, represent the California shooters.
